Congratulations for a successful Aegis Concert! Great Show Aegis!
Ed Rame with Trinity Foliente and 6 others
    Aegis plus AngJo Awayan
Jo Awayan is a performer and a wonderful front act. She so professionaly and personally propped up the audience to be ready for the big... songs that Aegis was expected to have prepared. Jo was really funny and entertaining. She really still have those pipes for those great songs. Admirably, she was prepared. She was smooth and spontaneous. Her spiels were great. She wasn't over doing or trying. I think of her as a very respectable artist. She had the crowd alive, very happy, She was accorded back with a huge and well deserved applause. I've never seen that kind of appreciation from any front act I've seen before.. She was just superb and almost stole the show from Aegis.
The Alex Theater was packed from the orchestra perspective. I haven't been in an Aegis only concert and I am impressed by their drawing power. I knew them for the songs "Luhà" (" Tears"), "Halík" ("Kiss"), and "Basáng-basâ sa Ulán" ("Drenched in the Rain"). Their songs are quite hard core in the sense that it touches the raw deep unspoken feelings of heartbreaks of which Pinoys are quite cozy with. Melodramatic and the lyrics spells out the commonly unspoken pains or the very words we would like to say or describe our own situations and despairs. That probably explains why all of us can relate as the songs are like a catharsis to a heart and mind wanting a release. And they came like screams of the heart yet beautifully interpreted in those unbelievable birit.
    Juliet Sunot - vocals
    Mercy Sunot - vocals
    Ken Sunot - vocals
    Stella Galindo - keyboard
    Rey Abenoja - vocals/lead guitar
    Rowena Pinpin - bass guitar
    Vilma Goloviogo - drums
The sisters are well endowed with the very popular birit range and style which is what is singing to a great number of Pinoys. Unbelievable notes and they blend together for an extreme doze of birits. I realized I was already at the edge of my chair maybe for fear of a glass somewhere is about the be broken. They sang Habang May Buhay, a hit single from After Image and was really heartfelt in the birit way. They sang a lot of covers too like Salamat by the Dawn, Jeprox by Mike Hanopol and the Sampaguita classic hits Bonggahan and Nosi Balasi. There were a lot hit songs they sang I am not familiar with but the audience were simply enthralled singing the songs together with the group. The two hour concert seemed short with so much hits sang with incredible gusto and that includes the high performing audience. Aegis gave an encore to satisfy the hard core clamor too for even just one more song.
Aegis did not disappoint their fans. They gave the packed house their hits songs and more plus the kind of performance that only an Aegis can do. They came they sang and they conquered,
A closer look a little back in the not so distant past, Sharon Cuneta reigned supreme in the Philippine entertainment scene, with all due respects or in all respects accounted for. All her concerts are packed sold out, hers are sure blockbuster movies, top rating TV show; wherever she goes her presence either light up the place or a gold harvest event. But her songs were far more endearing as it conquered and marinated the airwaves. First and foremost how can one forget whe...n her teeny weeny chart buster Mr. DJ. It almost became the national anthem or it has its own moment as the national love song. It has a playful melody and light but sincere to the heart lyrics. It was joyfully sang song now and then because culturally it speaks about almost everyone's own story of first crush or the unspoken emotions of unexpressed love. It was not so fashionable then to be outspoken about crushes as these are extremely guarded secrets shared among the closest of friends or shared to none at all. Sharon seemed to have cast a spell to the airwaves as her gentle angelic voice was soothing and a real breath of fresh air. As if on cue the nation sings with her when the radio played her Mr. DJ. Thus a new royalty in the music industry was crowned in the person Rey Valera the brilliant composer. Together they have made more and enormous collaborative works that simply ruled the OPM. These are now classics but the songs are universally appealing as Filipinos are hopelessly romantics. Surely this concert is a winner. The Songwriter together with the Singer. Who made who? It will be incredibly impossible to discern as it would be like the chicken and the egg challenge once again. This will be a fun moment to relive those emotions and the Producers GFBayona in cooperation with V Entertainemnt and Kabayan Ako will have another concert to remember. Winner!!!

Today is thank you day for me...When waiting is an exercise of patience...a single second would seem eternity, yet all is there is wait and it is either well with my soul or not for as human I stumble and fall. The night before the dawn is darkest yet in a split second too change comes and all is different. Everything has its time and yes and truly, all shall pass. Thank you Lord for another milestone is passing me by.....
Pope Francis is telling us to do Mattew 6:33 Seek ye first the kingdom of the Lord and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. To pursue wealth because of the fame and glory it may give is idolatry...we have to change our perspective in regards to wealth as it is a means to achieve greatness and in solidarity with the entire creation. This is more meaningful and we become more at peace with our conscience, selves and the rest of the universe and ultimately with God.
    U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders
Pope Francis is not just asking us to alleviate poverty and move toward more a equitable distribution of wealth and income. Nor is he simply requesting that we ...act boldly to combat climate change and save the planet.
He is asking us to create a new form of society where the economy works for all, and not just the wealthy and the powerful. He is asking us to become a different kind of person, where our happiness and well-being comes from serving others and being part of the human community - not by spending our lives accumulating more and more wealth and power while oppressing others.

My Hiding Place...
Twice in a row......I was in a conversation with someone very dear to me. It was a ticklish topic and as much as possible I wish not to offend a seemingly fragile or more likely a guarded relationship. But I am happy though that when topics are delicate I get the phone call first. One family, two cultures, separated by time and oceans apart. The misunderstanding is purely missed communications as technology came up only high speed for the last five years or so. My draconian response was wrapped in the finest of fabrics of hard hitting gloves that it would be puzzling or condescending realizing what would hit so bad yet still in the gentlest of blows. I wouldn't like to embarrass nor put anyone in a bad light so I asked What would Jesus do? And the formidable accusations and defenses just came crumbling without even me trying hard yet as I sensed my upper hand I gave all the gentlest blows I can and ended...."I believed these are God's messages for you for there is no way I can put all these together" I just thought hiding in the cloak of God's words really is the safest way to go....
